Mother, son shot to death inside Edgehill home

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) – A mother and her son, believed to be from Somalia, were found shot to death inside a home in the Edgehill neighborhood Sunday afternoon.

The victims, identified as Isha Musa, 37, and her 20-year-old son, Osmani Munongerwa, were found by a family member shortly before 1:45 p.m. at their Hillside Avenue home.

The family member told Metro police she tried to call her sister that morning. After not hearing back, she went to their house at the Parks at Hillside and found Musa lying at the bottom of the stairs.


When Metro police arrived around 2 p.m., they found her son dead upstairs.

When Metro police arrived around 2 p.m., they found her son dead upstairs.

Investigators say neighbors reported hearing noises that could have been gunshots Sunday morning between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m.

Police crime scene experts remained at the home collecting evidence through Sunday night.

The murders remains under investigation. No charges have been filed at this time.

According to Metro police, Musa and her son’s deaths are the 59th and 60th homicides so far this year.

Homicide numbers have seen an upward trend over the past several years. There were 43 in 2016, 37 in 2015, 22 in 2014, and 21 in 2013.
