Boston, Saturday March 09, 2013. State Representative Gloria L. Fox who represents the residents of the 7th Suffolk District held a town Hall meeting in the Roxbury YMCA today. The meeting was a discussion on constituent concerns. The community engagement Gloria briefly shared with constituents the legislative agenda especially how she is focusing on the elimination of health disparities in the district coupled with a sensible and affordable way to gain access to fundamental health care resources.
Gloria said ‘I am placing emphasis on CORI reform, stronger secondary and higher education systems, increased support for job opportunities, community development with affordable housing, and echoing my continued protection against potentially dangerous bio-labs. I am also looking forward to working with city officials and community leaders in assuring the continued development of our youth. This enhances the strength and resiliency of our families and provides a base to overturn youth violence. Their future is truly in our hands’.
The main discussion took place when chief of staff Mary Tuitt presented her feedback and analysis from community survey’s that clearly demonstrate that 7th Suffolk District area residents DO NOT receive any assistance although many politicians portrait the area, welfare territory.
The end of the meeting was joined by Boston City Councilor At-Large Ayanna Pressley and Felix G. Arroyo. Also District 7 Councilor Tito Jackson, then State Representative Gloria L. Fox handed over ten apple notebooks and two back up servers from four organizations that are the Central Elderly of Boston, Roxbury YMCA, Sojourner House and The Boston Islamic Center, in order to create computer labs for the community that they serve.
